Step 1: Heat Your Water
Different teas prefer different temperatures. Using water that's too hot can make delicate teas bitter, while cooler water may not fully extract flavor.
| Tea Type | Water Temperature | Steep Time |
|---|---|---|
| Black Tea | 200–212°F (93–100°C) | 3–5 minutes |
| Rooibos | 200–212°F (93–100°C) | 4–5 minutes |
| Herbal Blends | 200–212°F (93–100°C) | 5–7 minutes |
| Green Tea | 175–180°F (80–82°C) | 2–3 minutes |
Method 1: Classic Iced Tea
Makes 1 Quart (32 oz)
- Add 4 teaspoons loose leaf tea to your infuser.
- Pour 16 oz boiling water over tea.
- Steep according to tea type.
- Remove tea leaves.
- Add 16 oz cold water.
- Pour over ice.
For sweet tea, add sugar, honey, or syrup while the tea is still hot so it dissolves completely.
Method 2: Flash-Chilled Tea
For a brighter, more vibrant flavor:
- Brew tea at double strength using half the usual water.
- Fill a pitcher with ice.
- Pour brewed tea directly over ice.
- Stir and serve immediately.
This method locks in aroma and freshness.
Cold Brew Tea
A smooth, naturally sweet way to enjoy tea with less bitterness.
Makes 1 Quart
- Add 6–8 teaspoons loose leaf tea to your infuser.
- Fill with cold filtered water.
- Refrigerate for 8–12 hours.
- Remove leaves and serve over ice.
Cold brewing extracts flavor slowly, producing a softer, sweeter cup

Re-Steep Your Tea
Many premium loose leaf teas can be enjoyed for a second infusion. Simply add fresh water and increase steeping time by 1–2 minutes.
